ScottishPower Foundation to donate additional £30,000 to organisations across the UK
A Scottish theatre company, a 50-year-old nature reserve, a science engagement programme supporting young people into STEM careers and a music festival that promotes inclusivity are among the fifteen charitable organisations shortlisted for a ScottishPower Foundation Award this year.
The projects, which are located in regions across the UK, from Aberdeen to Sussex, are all in the running to share a slice of the £30,000 award fund.
In January the ScottishPower Foundation announced a donation of over £1 million to 15 charitable projects to support initiatives in local areas. These charities, along with three organisations still receiving funding from the Foundation, will come together in September for the Awards ceremony which takes place at ScottishPower’s HQ in Glasgow.
Scottish charities shortlisted:
- National Museums Scotland
- National Theatre of Scotland
- Young Enterprise Scotland
- The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice
- The Great Steward of Scotland’s Dumfries House Trust
- The Outward Bound Trust
- Alzheimer Scotland
English charities shortlisted:
- Bendrigg Trust
- Sussex Wildlife Trust
- Manchester Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA)
- The Customs House Trust Ltd
- Music in Hospitals & Care – delivering work across the UK
Welsh charities shortlisted:
- Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod
- Bangor University
- Theatr Clwyd Development Trust
Organisations will be judged in four categories including Education, Innovative Project, Community Impact and Charity Champion, an opportunity to shine a spotlight on an outstanding employee or volunteer, and the winning organisation in each category will receive an additional £5,000 funding boost with four runners-up receiving £2,500 each.

The ScottishPower Foundation was established in 2013 with the aim of making a significant and lasting contribution to society, enhancing the lives of people living in communities throughout the UK. It provides funding to registered charities which are involved in the advancement of education, environmental protection, citizenship, science, arts heritage and culture as well as the prevention of poverty and relief of disability or disadvantage.
