We are proud to announce this year’s winners and runners-up for the ScottishPower Foundation Awards 2022. The announcements were made at our Awards Day on 1st November 2022.

Education Award

Recognises the exceptional efforts of charities who are working to encourage learning and education in all its forms. The winning project clearly demonstrates how they are raising aspirations, promoting inclusion and broadening horizons.

Winner - Deafblind UK

“It’s an honour to be recognised by the ScottishPower Foundation for our education work. We truly believe that every single child should have an equal chance to learn and have a meaningful education, despite their sight and hearing loss. Thanks to this award win, we’ll be able to support even more students and their parents to get the education they deserve.”

Community Engagement Award

Recognises the work of charities who have made a positive impact to both their immediate target group and the wider community, working in partnership to enact long-lasting change.

Winner - Playlist for Life

“We are absolutely thrilled to be recognised by The ScottishPower Foundation Awards. We share this accolade with the hundreds of community Help Points around Scotland who are helping countless people affected by dementia through the power of personally meaningful music. Music that is meaningful to a person living with dementia can be a lifeline, helping families, carers and healthcare professionals to connect through the soundtrack of a person's life. These personal playlists benefit both the person living with dementia and the one caring for them by strengthening relationships, easing distress, and promoting person-centred care. Thank you to the ScottishPower Foundation for helping us to reach even more families affected by dementia.”

Innovation Award

Celebrates projects that address a community need in a unique and innovative way. The winner shows resilience and ingenuity to overcome problems, welcome new ideas and think out of the box to find inventive solutions.

Winner - Keep Britain Tidy

“The ScottishPower Foundation fund has enabled us to educate school pupils about plastic recycling and given them a tangible item which in-turn has helped keep our beach clean. The fund has enabled us to get to the beach and physically remove plastics as well as empowering volunteers by showing them that the litter they will collect will be put to great use in products for schools. We need to find solutions for problem and difficult-to-recycle plastics rather than taking the easy option of landfill. This is a true innovative circular economy success story driven by the funding we have received from the ScottishPower Foundation.”

Runner Up- Cheshire Wildlife Trust

Winner - Linkes

Fatima Mohammed, Vice Chair from Linkes and winner of the Charity Champion Award said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to receive this award and would like to thank the amazing team at LINKES, our partners, funders and of course, the ScottishPower Foundation. It’s such a team effort at LINKES and the prize money will be a huge help. It’ll help support the development of our weekly women’s drop-in advice session as well as boosting the range of community events we run, like next year’s Summer Fun Day which helps bring everyone together to foster a strong spirit among local people.”

Legacy Award

The one off Legacy Award recognises the outstanding achievements of the charities who have been supported throughout our history and their lasting impact in the community.

Winner - Bendrigg Trust

“We’re incredibly grateful to be recognised by the ScottishPower Foundation with this special Legacy Award. The ripple effect of our work reaches far beyond Bendrigg, and this funding will help to create even more 'ripples' through our volunteering programmes. It also means we can continue to offer everyone a place and a community where they feel included as standard, alongside having an adventure of a lifetime.”
