2050 Climate Group

Young Leaders Development Programme

The 2050 Climate Group is a collection of young professionals from across Scotland who share a commitment to supporting the country’s transition to a sustainable, low carbon economy and significantly cutting carbon emissions. It aims to engage, educate and empower future leaders, aged 20-30, in Scotland to take action on climate change through its Young Leaders Development Programme (YLDP).

Funding will support the delivery of the YLDP and will help to establish an Alumni Network. It will also contribute to an Inclusion Fund which will provide further opportunities for young leaders from disadvantaged and diverse backgrounds, by assisting them with travel costs to attend activities run by the group.

Enhancing Visitor Infrastructure at RSPB Loch Lomond

RSPB is the UK’s largest nature conservation charity, and exists to tackle the issues that threaten our spectacular natural environment. Much of RSPB’s Loch Lomond nature reserve is a wetland that is prone to flooding in the winter, which is ideal for wildlife but not for visitors!

Previous funding from the ScottishPower Foundation enabled RSPB to build the first phase of a new pathway, transforming access for visitors keen to discover the site’s beautiful vistas and wildlife.

In 2017, funding will enable RSPB to commission the design and construction of a multi-use visitor structure that will provide shelter and seating as well as a family-friendly wildlife experience. This structure will offer a rest point, picnic area and shelter from the weather near to an already well-established pond that is home to a rich array of frogs, insects and plant life.
