Wilder Education Network - Clean Water Challenge

This project will support young volunteers through STEM to promote Sustainable Drainage Schemes as a nature-based solution to the biodiversity decline caused by urban runoff water pollution. The rain gardens will be designed to support wildlife, create carbon sinks, and build nature connections, providing happier people and healthier nature.

The Magdalen Environmental Trust

Wetlands and Wood Pasture at Magdalen Farm

The charity will develop a range of habitats for wildlife by creating 560m of river restoration, 3 hectares of standing open water habitat through a range of ponds, 11,000 square metres of seasonal wetland, and 100 semi-mature trees that will be planted and guarded. 270 metres of boardwalk made from recycled plastic lumber will also be developed, making the farm accessible to all. A series of 6 butterfly banks created in the floodplain of the Axe (south-facing combes, creating warm micro-climates) otherwise missing on site.

The Renewal Trust

New Roots – Branching Out

In partnership with the National Probation Service, the project will deliver a programme of practical training and work experience to create employment and training opportunities for ex-offenders and improve overall wellbeing within the community.
