Minimum Criteria
Scotland - Four Highers at grades A-C, with two at a minimum of B (or equivalent). Plus National 5s in English and Maths (or equivalent).
England - Two A levels at a minimum of B (or equivalent) plus GCSE at grades A-C in Maths (or equivalent).

What you’ll be doing

The Quantity Surveying (QS) Team is responsible for delivering commercial support, expertise and knowledge from Contract Award stage through to the conclusion of the Final Account for a portfolio of Distribution and Transmission network engineering and construction projects. We’re involved in a variety of exciting projects such as the multi-million-pound investment in our electricity transmission network across Ayrshire to support green energy solutions such as electric vehicles (EV’s) and heat pumps.

As a QS Graduate Apprentice, you’ll be a key member of the team, playing a vital role assisting in the delivery of fundamental QS activities that will support your studies and develop your experience. You’ll have the opportunity to be involved in multiple tasks such as assessing monthly contractor measures (payment applications), commercial evaluations of project variations and contact and tender reviews. You’ll enhance your stakeholder engagement skills during commercial meetings with a wide variety of stakeholders.

On a daily basis, our quantity surveying apprentices will:

  • Liaise with clients, customers, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Learn how to apply and manage contracts
  • Monitor costs associated with projects
  • Work with the Senior Qs and wider team to ensure all changes to cost and materials are recorded and managed accordingly

What you’ll bring

If you live in Scotland, you’ll do a BSc (Hons) Graduate Apprenticeship Construction and Built Environment (Quantity Surveying) at Glasgow Caledonian University. You’ll have four Highers at grades A-C (or equivalent), with two of those at a minimum of a B. You’ll also have National 5 in English and Maths (or equivalent). We’re taking a hybrid approach to working with your time split between university, home and the office (either Glasgow or Cambuslang).

If you live in England, you’ll do a BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying Degree Apprenticeship at Liverpool John Moores University. You’ll have two A Levels at a minimum of B (or equivalent) plus GCSE Maths at grades A-C (or equivalent). We’re taking a hybrid approach to working with your time split between university, home and the Prenton office.

For both programmes, you’ll also need a driving licence (or be working towards it) as you’ll need to get to different sites both during and after your training period.
