Engineering – Glasgow & Prenton
As an Engineer within SP Energy Networks you might be involved in our billion-pound asset modernisation programme. Or working with cutting edge technology which will help us deliver a smarter and more sustainable network for our customers.
Our industry is going through an unprecedented level of change as we journey towards Net Zero. With an extensive programme of renewables connections, you could play a key role in connecting the renewables generation to the network. And with environmental sustainability a priority, not just for us but for our customers too, you might be involved in upgrading electricity connections for electric vehicle charging or electric heating as we all aspire to reduce our impact on our ecosystem.
We work hard to be a trusted partner for customers, communities and stakeholders and you could have the opportunity to work with them on collaborative projects as part of our sustainable and community action plans as we make this journey together.
This is a great opportunity to learn about different aspects of engineering and the importance of these in our industry. Exposure to a variety of projects will help you connect to our strategy and values and help you find your role as an engineer. You’ll have a clear view of the big picture – and ideas for re-framing it! We want you to drive outstanding innovation through pioneering ideas and forward thinking so that we can be the utility of the future.
Civil Engineering - Prenton
We’re undertaking multiple high value projects simultaneously as we overhaul our network to enhance our resilience and secure electricity supply to support our communities’ economic growth. And our £18 million network enhancement and decarbonisation project in North Shropshire is just one of many exciting projects that you could be involved in. Using your Civil Engineering expertise, we want you to draw on your learning, engaging new design philosophies to transform our existing methods as we develop greener approaches to engineering. Right now, we’re evaluating existing concrete structures and re-engineering them to make them viable, reducing our consumption and our waste as we execute some of our most ambitious and sustainable plans to increase the durability of our network.
And with over 30,000 substations we’re investing significantly in modernisation and reinforcement programmes to protect supply for our customers, communities and stakeholders. This is a great opportunity to learn about multiple facets of civil engineering and you’ll play a key role designing earthworks, foundations, steel structures, compounds, access roads, drainage and buildings to modernise existing substations, add or remove structures or build entirely new ones. With exposure to different engineering streams, you’ll improve your knowledge of construction, planning and tendering, giving you an understanding of the whole project to make you the best civil engineer you can be. We’re at the forefront of innovation, using cutting edge technology, the latest materials and modern plant and we’d love for you to join us at the sharp end!
You’ll find information on all our current and future projects on our web page: SP Energy Networks.
