Scottish Power UK plc1 continues to make strong progress on delivering a clean energy future for the UK.
In the first half of the year, it has invested almost £1bn (£914m) in the low carbon infrastructure the country needs to decarbonise, deploying capital across its electricity networks as well as renewable productions offshore, onshore and battery development sites.
With Britain requiring the biggest rewiring in its history, Iberdrola signed an agreement in August 2024 to acquire an 88% stake in the distribution network operator Electricity North West. This will complement ScottishPower’s electricity networks business on completion, subject to regulatory approvals.
SP Energy Networks continues to invest significantly in its existing network with £513 million in projects delivered as part of efforts to ensure the grid is net zero-ready.
At the same time, its teams are continuing to make great progress on a £5.4bn transmission procurement tender – the largest to date. It will see major investment in green energy infrastructure and green jobs throughout the supply chain across the next decade, as well as in projects like the Eastern Green Links.
ScottishPower Renewable’s continues to invest for the future, securing two contracts in the UK Government’s Contracts for Difference Auction Round 6 in September. Its 963MW East Anglia Two offshore wind farm, off the coast of Suffolk, will see the expansion of the East Anglia Hub, transforming the region thanks to renewables. East Anglia Three is already under construction and further works continue across renewable production in solar, onshore and battery technologies.
Its customer business is at the forefront of delivering for people the length and breadth of the UK, including on new technologies like solar, battery, heat pump and home electric vehicle charging installations. In June 2024, it launched its first Heat Pump Saver tariff backed by 100% green electricity which allows customers to heat their homes at a cheaper rate throughout the day. These innovations are part of ScottishPower’s wider strategy to promote greener living to ensure a cleaner, greener future for all.
More detail on ScottishPower’s progress is included in its Interim Management Report.
