15/11/2024

ScottishPower celebrated the businesses helping it to spearhead the UK’s green energy transition at a prestigious supplier awards ceremony in Glasgow yesterday.

Held at Glasgow Science Centre, the event recognised the companies from across the UK that have been intrinsic to ScottishPower’s work to deliver a better future quicker as it doubles its investment in critical energy infrastructure.

From transformers to turbines, monopiles to maintenance contracts, every aspect of the supply chain is benefiting as ScottishPower works with other companies across the UK who in turn create jobs and expand as it invests.

Almost 300 people from companies across the UK and members of the ScottishPower team attended its supplier awards where the big winner was Keltbray Energy Limited. Awarded ‘Supplier of the Year’ for 2024, they received the prestigious award for their consistency and reliability as a supplier who has worked with ScottishPower since 2019 and for their excellent environmental considerations and approach to delivery in support of SP Energy Networks.

There were nine other awards up for grabs at the Supplier Awards: Delivering a Better Future through partnerships, won by companies working across the energy industry from inspiring young minds to building windfarms.

Economic Recovery & Job Creation Award – Clyde Ventures Limited Business for their focus on creating opportunities for young people and people from socially disadvantaged background and areas, recruiting and training for the lowest 10% socially and financially affluent postcodes of Scotland.

Charles Langan, CFO of ScottishPower, said: “We want to recognise and celebrate the work of our wide and varied supplier base and I would like to congratulate and thank all the winners for their continued work to support the UK’s green energy transition.

“The energy sector is one of the UK’s biggest growth drivers and we injected over £2bn into the economy over the first six months of this year. This shows how businesses right across the supply chain can benefit from the country’s clean power mission.

“Across our Networks, Renewables and Customer businesses, we are lucky to work with some incredible companies, both big and small, who share our ethos and our goal of delivering a better future for everyone.

“ScottishPower continues to create huge opportunities for other businesses to win contracts, deliver for the UK and in turn invest in their own workforces.”

More than 550 companies - of varying sizes - won contracts in the first half of 2024, worth £1bn. Whether those contracts are in turbines or maintenance, the company’s commitment to its working partners is key to its ongoing success.
