ScottishPower launches 325 early career roles for 2025

ScottishPower launches its largest ever early career intake – looking to hire 325 roles for its 2025 graduate and trainee programmes

The news comes just weeks after ScottishPower, one of the UK’s leading energy companies, announced it would double its investment in the UK, from £12bn to £24bn by 2028, with over two-thirds of this investment in its electricity networks.

Over 200 opportunities in trainee roles and over 100 graduate placements are available with the energy company. Positions are available across ScottishPower's businesses and offices, including East Anglia, to support ScottishPower Renewables' offshore ambitions and in Merseyside, North Wales, and Scotland, where SP Energy Networks own and operate over 65,000km of underground cable and 40,000km of overhead lines.

Targeting roles in engineering, technology, and project management, SP Energy Networks is set to take on a large number of trainees to support its multi-billion-pound investment programme to upgrade Scotland’s transmission network, enabling more renewable electricity than ever before to connect into the network.

Jennifer Davies, SP Energy Networks Strategic Workforce Renewals Manager said: “We are excited to kick off our recruitment period for the 2025 graduate intake, which will be our largest to date.

“We are looking to attract over 100 new graduate entrants into our growing business. These are truly exciting times ahead as we continue to expand and innovate with fresh talent joining our team.”

ScottishPower’s two-year graduate programme gives its graduates the opportunity to play their part in the electrification of the UK, providing them with the skills, training, and confidence to drive the renewable energy industry forward towards the UK’s Net Zero targets.

Jonathan Naftalin, SP Energy Networks Graduate Trainee Engineer said: “The graduate programme has given me opportunities to get involved in substantive, high impact projects that affect the future of the UK’s energy infrastructure.

The structure of the graduate programme has given me exposure to different parts of the business, which has been vital for forging new relationships and developing a broad understanding of how we operate our distribution and transmission businesses.”
