First Minister of Scotland Rt Hon John Swinney MSP visited ScottishPower’s training centre where he set out the SNP’s focus on transitioning to a green economy.
He was joined by ScottishPower Chief Executive Keith Anderson and Jamie Hepburn MSP, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth and Minister for Parliamentary Business, alongside Stuart McDonald, SNP candidate for Cumbernauld and Kirkintilloch.
They met with recruits on ScottishPower’s Adult Craft Trainee programme and heard about their experience in the installation and maintenance of power infrastructure and renewable energy technologies.
It’s one of a number of trainee and apprenticeship programmes ScottishPower offers to people with diverse skills, expertise and ambitions, who are looking to kickstart their career and contribute to the journey towards Net Zero.
Keith Anderson, CEO of ScottishPower, said: “It was a pleasure to host the First Minister at our training centre today. We are continuing to engage across the political spectrum on the billions in investments we’re making to prepare Scotland and the rest of the UK for an electric future - funding projects that deliver growth, jobs, supply chain contracts and support the UK’s long-term decarbonisation targets.”
