Pension Quality Mark

Following an independent assessment by the National Association of Pension Funds, the Iberdrola Group (UK) Stakeholder Pension Plan was awarded the Pension Quality Mark (PQM Plus). This is awarded to defined contribution schemes with strong governance arrangements and controls in place, which demonstrate excellent data quality and show clear, engaging and easy-to-understand communications to scheme members.

Institution of Civil Engineers

A ceremony was held at Cruachan Power Station in October, where ScottishPower Hydro Group Manager Ross Galbraith accepted a plaque awarded by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). The award, presented annually, usually honours an engineer who has made a significant contribution to the built environment. However, for the first time, ICE presented the award to a civil engineering project; Cruachan Power Station.

Customer Service Training Network Awards

ScottishPower Customer Service received a Bronze Award at the annual Customer Service Training Network Awards. The award recognises the fantastic achievement of training 2,000 staff on the new billing system which involved a considerable effort in planning and delivery.

Business in the Community’s Responsible Business Awards

ScottishPower was awarded a ‘Big Tick’ in the Work Inclusion category for our PowerSkills programme funded through the Scottish Government’s CashBack for Communities scheme, and was shortlisted to go forward to judging with a chance to be crowned overall winner in the UK. We also received a reaccreditation for our Big Tick in the Workplace Talent & Skills category, for our Energy Networks Resource Project.

ScottishPower employee Roy Jones MBE was awarded ‘Wales Employee Volunteer of the Year’ at the Wales Responsible Business Awards in Cardiff. This award is given to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to their community through volunteering, recognising the positive impact they have made in Wales by developing their own skills and encouraging others in the organisation to volunteer.

Healthy Working Lives Awards

ScotAsh, a 50:50 joint venture with Lafarge Tarmac, became the first company in Fife to achieve a Bronze Healthy Working Lives Award, since a new assessment process was introduced last autumn. The company, which produces environmentally friendly cements and grouts from recycled power station ash, launched a wellbeing programme for employees two years ago to build on its excellent Health & Safety record, which saw the business achieve 11 years without a Lost Time Injury in November 2013.

The People in Power Awards

Two C&I Engineers at Longannet Power Station, Keith Simpson and Drew Welsh, were the winners in the ‘Power Team of the Year’ category for their outstanding work with apprentices. The People in Power Awards recognise individuals and teams for their work or the standard of training and education they provide within the power sector and are run by the National Skills Academy for Power (NSAP). For the last decade Keith and Drew have taken an active and leading role in mentoring and developing apprentices, who have gone on to have rewarding careers as a result.

The European Smart Metering Awards

ScottishPower scooped two of the main prizes at the European Smart Metering Awards; winning in the Customer Service Innovation and Roll-Out Innovation categories. The awards were given in recognition of our dynamic implementation of pre-site surveys ahead of our mass deployment of Smart Meters and our continued commitment to developing new and creative ways to give better customer service.
