- Around 130,000 customers will move to ScottishPower
- All outstanding credit balances for new and former domestic customers will be honoured
- Switch will take place from tomorrow, 10 October
ScottishPower has taken on Tonik Energy’s customers following the company being chosen as the supplier of last resort by Ofgem. Around 130,000 domestic energy customers will now move to ScottishPower as a result of a competitive process run by Ofgem.
Tonik Energy customers will switch to ScottishPower from Saturday 10 October 2020. The energy supplier will now offer a competitive tariff to customers and all outstanding credit balances, including money owed to both existing and former domestic customers of Tonik, will also be honoured. ScottishPower will absorb the costs of honouring customers’ credit balances and the migration of customers.

ScottishPower reassures their new customers that over the next few weeks it will ensure that the transfer occurs smoothly and that their electricity and gas supplies will not be disrupted. A dedicated phone line and call centre will be operational from Monday 12 October for customers.
Andrew Ward, ScottishPower CEO, UK Retail, said: “We would like to welcome Tonik Energy customers to ScottishPower. They are joining a safe and stable integrated energy company focussed on achieving net zero through a green recovery. We understand that this can be a stressful time but we would like to reassure every one of our new customers that they do not need to worry and should sit tight. We will be in touch soon about what we will do next to ensure everything runs smoothly over the next few weeks.”
