Iberdrola and ScottishPower Chairman Ignacio Galán will this week hold a series of meetings with the three main boards of the Iberdrola Group in Glasgow - the first time all three have come together outside Spain. This includes the main Iberdrola Board, the Board of Iberdrola Renovables and the ScottishPower Board, across which there is significant Scottish representation.
In advance of the opening of Whitelee Windfarm on Wednesday , Europe's largest on-shore wind project, the three boards held a dinner at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery in Glasgow where they were welcomed by Jim Mather MSP, Minister for Energy and Tourism, and the Lord Provost for Glasgow, Bob Winter.
Commenting Galán said "The Iberdrola Group is deeply committed to Scotland. Our goals here are to bring wealth through our investments, provide employment and focus our purchases on local suppliers. Iberdrola is a global organisation that understands the importance of local management in all the countries in which it operates. The representation across all of our boards reinforces our commitment to ensure we combine global international business experience with a strong local management core . This is fundamental to our aim of ensuring our activities are globally coordinated and implemented in the most appropriate way in the countries in which we operate, including the UK and Scotland."
