SCOTTISHPOWER has secured the Strategic People Development Project of the Year Award at the fifth annual Hr NETWORK (Scotland) National Awards 2011, held on 17th November.
The esteemed awards, in association with the Open University, are designed to recognise, acknowledge and reward the champions of the HR and people management & development profession in Scotland.
ScottishPower was honoured for the high standards of its corporate training activities and their alignment to organisation requirements.
ScottishPower was also named as a finalist in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) category for its work in community affairs, employee relations, human rights communications, stakeholder engagement, and its social media campaign.
Over 700 guests attended the hugely popular gala dinner in the Glasgow Hilton which is regarded as the event of the year in the Scottish HR and people development & management calendar.
Kirsty McGhie, business training manager at ScottishPower, said: “We are thrilled to win the Strategic People Development Project of the Year Award for our work adapting our corporate training activities.
“It has been a team effort with a great deal of help from the development support team. I’d like to thank everyone for their continued efforts in this area.
“It’s fantastic news that we won an award for work we were conducting to centralise our training services and increase the overall quality and value of training to meet business and individual needs. A fully robust corporate training plan and centralised budget is in place and it is an outstanding achievement to be recognised for this.“
Martin Glover, chair of the judging panel for the Hr NETWORK Awards, said: “We’d like to congratulate ScottishPower on winning the Strategic Development Project of the Year Award and for all their hard work this year. The standard of entries was extremely high this year and ScottishPower was up against some strong competition.
“We wish the team all the best for the coming year and are sure that their strategic developments will progress well, and hope to see them at the awards again in 2012.”
