ScottishPower Receives Payroll Giving Quality Mark Silver Award

23/06/2008

In recognition of the success of its ‘Give as you Earn’ scheme, ScottishPower has recently been awarded with a Payroll Giving Quality Mark Silver Award. The company was notified of its award in a letter from Phil Hope MP, Minister for the Third Sector.

The award recognises that ScottishPower has made significant efforts towards fostering a culture of committed giving in the workplace. The Silver Award is given to companies who engage between 5% - 9% of their employees in their payroll giving scheme. Last year, more than 700 employees gave over £55,000 to good causes through this scheme.

Ann Loughrey, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at ScottishPower, said: “This award is testament to the spirit of giving that exists amongst a significant number of employees at ScottishPower – who should all feel very proud. Beyond the payroll giving scheme, many more employees have raised considerable sums of money for charity through other schemes, such as our matched funding programme.

“We will continue to promote these very worthwhile schemes across the company and I have no doubt that the generosity of our staff will be a source of pride for the whole business for a long time to come.”

Notes to Editors:

Funded by HM Government, the Payroll Giving Quality Mark Awards scheme recognises and rewards business for making payroll giving available to staff.
