ScottishPower has become one of the first recipients of Energy UK’s Vulnerability Commitment Gold Star Rating.
Energy UK launched their Vulnerability Commitment last year, forming a set of principles and commitments for energy suppliers to provide extra support for customers in vulnerable circumstances.
Every year, Energy UK will be releasing their Best Practice Report, within which they will award the Gold Star Rating to up to three energy suppliers in recognition of outstanding practice or progress in supporting vulnerable customers.
For its inaugural year, Energy UK has chosen to recognise two energy suppliers for their work, one of them is ScottishPower.
The Commitment has highlighted a number of actions taken by ScottishPower to support vulnerable customers. This includes its Prepayment Voucher Scheme which provides financial support for prepayment customers at risk of self-disconnecting, and its sophisticated telephone routing which uses indicators on customer accounts to automatically route vulnerable customers to specialist teams who can provide expert support to those who need it most.
Speaking about the Gold Star Rating, Andrew Ward, Retail CEO of ScottishPower’s, said: “We are pleased to receive one of the first ever Gold Star Ratings for our work to help support our vulnerable customers. Supporting our customers in vulnerable circumstances is one of our priorities, and this award is a positive sign of the work we are doing in this area, but we recognise there is always more to do. We are going to continue to build on our efforts to get to this point to continue to provide the support and services our vulnerable customers need every day.”
