Ignacio Galan to chair World Economic Forum's Energy Utilities Community

Today in Davos, IBERDROLA Chairman, Ignacio Galan, was appointed as new Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Energy Utilities Community, celebrating its annual meeting in the Swiss town.

For a one-year term, Mr. Galan will lead the Steering Committee of the Energy Utilities Community, formed by the Renewable Energy Shapers and the Utilities & Technologies industries. 

For the 2013-2015 period and in addition to Mr. Galan, the Steering Committee will be comprised of Steve Bolze, president and CEO of GE Power & Water; Peter Terium, CEO of RWE; Jun Arai, Chief Operating Officer of Showa Shell Sekiyu; Sam Laidlaw, CEO of Centrica; Gerard Mestrallet, president and CEO of GDF Suez; Christian Rynning-Tonnesen, president and CEO of Statkraft; and Oystein Loseth, president and CEO of Vattenfall.

The Chair, as leader of the Energy Utilities Community, will identify, evaluate and select themes and issues at the core of the industry and drive towards reaching measureable outputs whilst promoting greater interaction between Community members and represent the Group at different events.

Furthermore, the IBERDROLA Chairman will actively participate in Davos, as he has been doing in recent years, and he will represent the Community at other World Economic Forum events.
